Mufti Saeed Ahmad Palanpuri on Maulana Saad

Mufi Saeed Ahmad Palanpuri was the former principal and Shaykhul Hadith of Darul Uloom Deoband. He passed away in 2020. The following is a recent eye witness testimony from one of his students following the Tongi Ijtema Attack 2024.

Despite his high status, Mufti Saeed Ahmad Palanpuri lived a simple, humble life. This was his house, located in a small locality of Palanpur called Mujahidpura:

Testimony on Mufti Saeed Ahmad Palanpuri regarding Maulana Saad

From Hakeem-ul-Islam Qasmi:

About 5 years ago (~around 2019), I was sitting in the gathering of Hazrat Al-Ustaad Mufti Saeed Ahmad Sahib Palanpuri (RA). His gatherings were a collection of scholarly discussions, literary anecdotes, and solutions to problems.

Shortly after, a religious scholar came from Gujarat. Hazrat seated him in front and said: “This person he is a great scholar.”

The conversation that followed next is worth writing in gold ink and worth reading with insight.

The Gujarati scholar said, “Hazrat, ten years ago (~around 2009) I had the opportunity to study Hadith under you during Daura-e-Hadith. During the lesson, you had said: ‘In ten years from today, Tablighi Jamaat will split into two groups.'”

10 Years from now, Tablighi Jamaat will split into two groups – Mufti Saeed in 2009

He said, “Today (~2019) I have come from Gujarat with this very news that ‘ten years have passed and Tablighi Jamaat has split into two groups!'”

What Hazrat Mufti Saeed said next is also noteworthy. Hazrat said, “And mark my words today – after ten years from now (~around 2029) , the extreme (Saad) group will emerge as a sect more dangerous than the Barelvis.”

Mark my words! 10 Years from now the extreme (Saad) group will emerge as a sect more dangerous than the Barelvis – Mufti Saeed in 2019

I think five or six years have passed since this statement was made. May Allah protect the Muslim Ummah.

Hazrat Mufti Saeed’s opinion, which he would often express in his gatherings and lessons, was:

“Tablighi Jamaat in itself is a very excellent work, provided that it follows the principles established and taught by the three elders (Maulana Ilyas Sahib, Maulana Yusuf Sahib, Maulana Inamul Hassan Sahib – may Allah have mercy on them), and also that the purpose of this work should be to create connection with scholars, not hatred.

The tragedy in Bangladesh is indeed both regrettable and thought-provoking.

May Allah protect this strong religion, Ameen.
